The final century of scholarship at the previous testomony citations within the Gospel of John has targeted nearly completely upon source-critical or redaction-critical concerns with the purpose of selecting the Christological import of the citations. the present publication brings a narrative-rhetorical technique to endure upon the seven particular Scriptural citations within the Gospel's 'Book of indicators' (1:19-12:50) which are prefaced by means of a unique introductory formulation (1:19-12:15). those citations are each one addressed to, or indicate, a selected textual viewers, specifically, 'the Jews'. This booklet argues that as such the citations don't basically have Christological value yet functionality on the narrative point to inspire an incredible reader to build a very destructive characterization of 'the Jews'.
